Kazakhstan presents high-value opportunities across primary extraction, value-added processing, industrial manufacturing and advanced technologies. Below is an overview of key investment sectors.
Driven by strong local raw material reserves and demand for downstream steel products, particularly pipe products where import reliance remains high (imports accounted for 65% of the Kazakh pipe market in 2016, with regional import demand across Kazakhstan, China, and Russia exceeding $4.3 billion).
Key demand drivers include major oilfield expansions (such as the Tengiz field) and national water infrastructure modernization programmes.
Copper: Focus on developing downstream processing capacity (refined copper and copper products) to supply high-demand neighbouring markets, particularly China’s power grid ($350 billion grid investment planned) and renewable energy sectors.
Aluminium: Expanding from primary production (bauxites, alumina, primary aluminium) into high-value downstream products, such as alloyed aluminium sheets for construction, automotive engineering, and electric vehicle manufacturing.
Additive Manufacturing Powders: Utilizing domestic reserves of chrome, steel, vanadium, and aluminium to produce specialized metal powders for 3D printing across aerospace, medical, machinery, and automotive sectors.
Opportunities in greenfield exploration across unexplored territories, modern re-processing of historical tailings, and development of deposits adjacent to newly built infrastructure corridors.
Ongoing capital expenditure in major energy developments generates demand for specialized engineering, maintenance, high-spec piping, and processing facilities.
Transitioning raw hydrocarbon reserves into high-value chemical products, fertilizers, and polymers for export across Central Asia and the EAEU.
Grid modernization and renewable integration projects supported by government tariffs and green energy transition targets.
Capitalizing on vast arable land, Kazakhstan offers major potential in grain processing, oilseed extraction, livestock production, and deep agricultural processing for export to Western China and the Middle East.
Logistics infrastructure, cold-chain distribution, precision farming, and irrigation technology upgrades supported by state subsidy schemes.
Investment in dry ports, multi-modal logistics parks, and warehousing along the "West Europe – West China" highway and rail freight routes.
Development of specialized industrial zones equipped with ready-to-use utility connections, land grants, and preferential tax regimes.
Navigating cross-border growth requires commercial vision combined with technical legal precision. Belgravia Advisory Central Asia provides foreign investors with the local knowledge and international expertise needed to structure transactions, secure government incentives, and mitigate legal risks.
